Managing Director, Martin
Anyone who knows him will tell you that Chris is hyper-competitive. A trait that could be irritating if you were trying to beat him to a parking space but one that comes in quite handy for his clients and pushed him to become an All-American tennis player during his college years at UNC-Chapel Hill. He began his career selling forklifts and heavy equipment. A challenging job for anyone out of college, but he credits that experience with giving him his entrepreneurial drive and with teaching him the value of deep customer relationships.
As a result, his efforts as a marketer through the years have helped earn countless awards for his clients — from Effies to Cannes Lions; Caples to One Show Pencils; APGs to CLIOs. But it’s more than awards (and winning). He’s an “assist man” who puts his fierce, entrepreneurial spirit to work for the people around him with the unwavering desire to position them to do the best work of their lives.
His teams’ efforts last year alone hauled in thirteen Cannes Lions and countless other awards. More importantly, they sparked the biggest growth year in GEICO’s history, launched and re-energized a new brand for TIAA and drove exponential increases in registrations for Donate Life which will save countless lives. “Mumford,” as he is cleverly dubbed throughout the agency, also serves on the Executive Committee of The Martin Agency along with the Board of The Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce. And as a tireless advocate for the Account Management discipline, Chris sits on the 4As Account Management Committee.
He has an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management and enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife Nicole and their three children – Beck (13), Lila (13) and Max (10).
