Gretchen Hamm is Chief Marketing Officer of the Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League.
Gretchen’s greatest strengths are her creativity, drive and leadership. She thrives on challenges, particularly those that expand the company’s reach.
Recruited by new ownership, Gretchen was brought on by Steve Baldwin to lead all sales, marketing and communications efforts in the rebuilding and rebranding of the Washington Spirit. Inheriting a 3 person staff with revenues under $1,000,000 with low attendance, no media presence and minimal sponsorships; she turned 2019 into a $2.5M revenue year with 5 sell outs, including a 19,000 Audi Field sell out, multiple, active sponsorships, positive community outreach and transparent press relations.
Throughout her time at Arlington Soccer Association, she led the efforts to increase brand awareness, share the #TeamArlington story, engage stakeholders and improve communications. Although a small staff, she developed several long standing partnerships which executed activation, co-branding efforts and financial benefit.
Running Gretchen Hamm Consulting for several years, she provided consulting services to business and charities who wanted to take their company or organization to their next level. past clients include: Congressional Golf Shoot Out at Congressional Country Club, No Greater Sacrifice Invitational at Merion Golf Club, The Chick Hernandez Celebrity Golf Tournament, Safe Places Golf Classic, Zero Out Prostate Cancer Golf Tournament, Habitat for Humanity Annual Tournament, Strelmark Consulting, Lake Anne Brew House, Jennifer Heffner Corporate Photography, The Popovich Financial Group, Wyndhorse Services, Klarity Skin Care and Tyson’s Playground/Perfect Performance.
Connecting the dots to create win-win partnerships are her sweet spot, during her tenure with the Salute Military Golf Association, she brokered a deal the PGA TOUR and Web.Com TOUR to bring Salute Military Golf Association’s brand in front of thousands in the DC market.
Also notable is her six years as Executive Director for The First Tee of Washington, D.C., where she directed major sponsorship and other partnering initiatives. A highly creative, mission-driven professional with over 20 years of development, marketing, and fundraising experience.
