Michael Freedman, Journalist in Residence at University of Maryland Global Campus and Executive Producer of The Kalb Report, is the 113th president of the National Press Club.
Freedman served as general manager of CBS Radio Network News (where he produced Walter Cronkite’s final programming for the network), managing editor for the Broadcast Division of United Press International, a vice president and professor of journalism at The George Washington University and senior vice president and professor of the practice at University of Maryland Global Campus. Earlier in his career, he spent 15 years as a reporter, anchor, sportscaster and news director in Detroit radio.
For the past 25-years, Freedman has served as executive producer of the multi-award-winning public broadcasting series The Kalb Report, moderated by legendary journalist Marvin Kalb and presented at the National Press Club.
