Communications, Office of the Surgeon General
Whitney Anderson is a communications specialist within the Office of the Surgeon General. Whitney serves as the communications lead for Commissioned Corps Headquarters, overseeing daily communications tasks pertaining to the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. In her current role, Whitney has served as an integral part in re-branding the USPHS Commissioned Corps and re-establishing the Corps’ social media presence. Whitney previously served as a communications editor for the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities. During her time at NIH she lead the Institute in its 2018 #HealthEquity Twitter Chat aimed at addressing equitable health for all in observance of National Minority Health Month. The Chat garnered 14.5 million audience impressions. Her work and time at NIH earned Whitney the Distinguished Achievement Award from then employer, Kelly Government Solutions. Whitney has previously served as a communicator for the U.S. Department of Defense’s Defense Health Agency, a government reporter for The Calvert Recorder in Calvert County, Maryland, and a photojournalist for the Washington Navy Yard. Whitney is a proud journalism graduate of Howard University and a Virginia native.
